Returning to Oxford

We recommend that you purchase a flexible “anytime return” rail ticket that allows you to take any return train to Oxford on your chosen route. However, you may wish to book a specific return train in advance. If so, bear in mind that we aim to return to Moreton-in-Marsh by 17.00 (on both weekday and weekend tours).

We can also drop you off at one of our other free drop-off points (Stratford-upon-Avon, 17.30, or Leamington Spa station – Sundays only, 18.15) if you prefer. It’s no problem if you have luggage – we have a large luggage storage space on our minibus, so you can bring it with you!

These times are usually the latest times we will return to these stations. In case of heavy traffic or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we can never 100% guarantee to be back on time, but it is usually safe to book a return train after these times.

Train times and fares

Up-to-date information on timetables and ticket prices across the British rail network can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website: www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Train timetables can occasionally change – for example, because of planned or unplanned engineering works, public holidays or special events – so please ensure you double check the train times before you travel.

Travellers from Oxford can purchase the Cotswolds Discoverer One-Day travel pass to join our tours on Saturdays and Sundays. This special ticket costs £10.50 for adults, and £5.25 for children aged 15 and under (children under 5 travel free). It provides you with one day of unlimited bus and train travel within the Cotswolds region, and saves money on the usual price of a return ticket between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh.

Buy this ticket at Oxford station on the day of travel. There is no need to book specific trains with this ticket – at weekends, it can be used on any train between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh.

NB: The Cotswolds Discoverer One-Day travel pass is also available Monday to Friday, but on weekdays, it cannot be used on trains departing before 08.50, therefore it is not available for our customers who will need to take an earlier train. However, if you book your train tickets online in advance, you can often buy a standard off-peak return ticket for the same price as the Cotswolds Discoverer Pass – it is just less flexible.
