If you are staying in London and want to take a day trip to the Cotswolds, then we think taking a train to join a Go Cotswolds tour is the best way to go.
While we can’t beat the convenience of a tour departing directly from London, if you want the benefit of touring with an award-winning, top-rated local family business, then it’s very easy to hop on a train at London Paddington to reach our tour pick up point at Moreton-in-Marsh. As well as being more environmentally friendly, the relaxing 90-minute journey passes through beautiful English countryside. You’ll also get to spend more time in the Cotswolds, and less time stuck in London traffic!
If you’re planning a tour with us, from London, on Saturday 27th July or Sunday 28th July, however, there’s something you should know…
Usually, you can take one direct train from London Paddington and arrive in Moreton-in-Marsh in time for our tour departure time – easy peasy!
However, on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July, part of this rail line – specifically the section between Didcot Parkway and Oxford – will be closed for track repairs.
If you’re joining a tour with us this weekend, and planned to take a train from London or Reading, please note the following advice.
Rail services from Oxford are unaffected on July 27-28. Normal rail service will resume on Monday 29th July.
Take the 07.07 train from London Marylebone (NOT London Paddington) to Oxford. At Oxford, take the 08.42 train to Moreton-in-Marsh, arriving at 09.18.
Take the 07.25 train from Reading to Didcot Parkway. At Didcot Parkway, you’ll switch to a rail replacement bus and ride to Oxford. At Oxford, take the 08.42 train to Moreton-in-Marsh.
Unfortunately, the revised timetable on Sunday 28th July means it will NOT be possible to arrive at Moreton-in-Marsh in time for our tour departure time of 09.30. Please join us another day!
The alternative route will make your journey a little slower, and you may have an earlier start to your day. But don’t worry, it’s not difficult at all!
If you need to switch to a rail replacement bus, the way to go will be clearly signposted at the departure station, and there will be staff nearby to help if needed.
You don’t need a separate ticket for the bus, and you don’t need to change your existing rail ticket. Just board the bus with your rail ticket.
