FAQs: Where will you pick me up in Stratford-upon-Avon?

Did you know that Go Cotswolds is the ONLY tour company that provides small-group day tours of the Cotswolds from Stratford-upon-Avon?

We can also pick you up from Leamington Spa, Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, but in this post, I’ll explain all you need to know about joining a tour from Stratford-upon-Avon. You can also find a helpful summary here

Stratford-upon-Avon: an ideal base to visit the Cotswolds

As the birthplace of Britain’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon is a bustling, historic provincial town in England’s West Midlands region. It’s also just a 20 minute drive from the start of the Cotswolds – a beautifully scenic region of rural England and a ‘must-see’ for visitors to our country! Stay in Stratford-upon-Avon for its history, culture and picturesque riverside location, and visit the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with us while you’re here!

Full details about our Cotswolds Day Tours can be found on our website here and tickets can be purchased here.

If you are arriving in to Stratford-upon-Avon by train on the morning of your Cotswolds Day Tour, then we can pick you up from Stratford-upon-Avon rail station. The Go Cotswolds minibus will wait for you at Bus Stop C, which is located across the car park from the ticket office.

Arriving by car

If you are driving to Stratford-upon-Avon on the morning of the tour, the most convenient place to park your car is at the Bridgeway multi-storey car park. Then, walk across the road to the Crowne Plaza Hotel (where it is easier for our minibus to stop) and we will pick you up from outside the main entrance to the hotel.

I’m staying in Stratford-upon-Avon: where will you pick me up?

The Mercure Shakespeare Hotel (other accommodation providers are available!) Photo: Jonathan Dodds, Flickr

Your Go Cotswolds guide will pick you up from any of the accommodation providers listed on our webpage here. This list includes all of the hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, campsites, youth hostels and some of the self-catering holiday homes we know about (although there are more popping up on sites like Airbnb all the time!).

Please wait for us outside the front entrance to the property. If we’re not able to park right outside, we’ll let you know where to wait in the confirmation email we send out a day or two before your tour.

What if my accommodation provider isn’t listed on your site?

Our ‘Where to stay in Stratford-upon-Avon‘ guide is a pretty comprehensive list of all the accommodation providers within the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. It was correct at the time of writing, and is updated periodically, but it’s possible that we may have missed some properties, or that a hotel has changed ownership and/or its name.

If the place you are staying at is not listed here, then please check with us before booking your Cotswolds Day Tour to see if we can pick you up from there.

Sometimes (particularly with online travel agents or property rental sites), properties are marketed as being “in” or “near to” Stratford-upon-Avon, when they are in fact located several miles out of the way. If the property lies on our route, then we may still be able to pick you up from there at no extra cost, but if it’s in the wrong direction then we may ask you to pay a small supplement, or to make your own way to a more convenient meeting point.

And finally….

If you want to stay in Shakespeare’s home town and join our tour of the Cotswolds, then remember that we are located in the West Midlands region of England, a good 2-3 hour drive away from central London. For our Cotswolds Day Tours we DON’T provide a pick-up directly from London, so please don’t make the mistake of booking a hotel in Stratford, East London!
